This study aims to describe the implementation of the One Day One News program and analyze its impact on students’ literacy skills and academic achievement at SMP Plus Literasi Pedamaran Timur. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers and the school principal, observation of literacy activities, and supporting documentation. The findings indicate that the One Day One News program is implemented systematically and consistently through daily news reading activities, summarizing texts, and classroom discussions and presentations guided by teachers. The program has a positive impact on improving students’ reading comprehension, writing skills, critical thinking abilities, and academic achievement, particularly in Indonesian language subjects. Although challenges such as limited reading resources and varying student reading abilities were encountered, the school addressed these issues through the use of digital news sources and intensive guidance. This study contributes to the development of educational literacy studies by demonstrating that structured daily reading of current news can serve as an effective strategy for fostering literacy skills and critical thinking culture among students.
